Equipping staff to manage congestion through use of novel technology.
To keep the trains running on time, Sydney Trains deploy teams to their busiest platforms to ensure people board and alight the train as quickly as possible. This project focussed on the design and development of a technology that utilised real-time data to enable platform staff to manage passenger congestion during peak-hour. This is an essential tool in the complex socio-technical system that keeps our transportation system running smoothly.
This project was a collaboration between the University of Technology, Sydney (Rapido), Downer, and Sydney Trains. Hamish (contracting to UTS), was the lead UX and UI Designer for the operational component of the system.
